50th Anniversary of Bank Indonesia

FDC

Bank Indonesia's history is very long and twisted, nevertheless in short we can say that Bank Indonesia as a central bank was founded on July 1, 1953 based on Bank Indonesia's Principal Act No.11 Year 1953, nearly eight years after the Republic of Indonesia was proclaimed. It resulted from the nationalization of De Javasche Bank, a Dutch bank during the colonial time which was assigned as a circulation bank in the Indische Dutch by the Dutch Government. From this history, Bank Indonesia originates from De Javasche Bank.
