Delias Kristianeae, A New Butterfly species was found in Foya Mountain, Papua by Henk van Mastrigt in 2005 and described by him in 2006.


The given name is derived from Indonesia's first lady, Mrs. Kristianti Herawati, to honour and support President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his effor to preserve Indonesian Forrest and protecting it againsts illegal logging. Wings span is 4.5 cm. Butterflies Stamp Series Leaflet 2007.11.05

    As a family member of Pieridae, this new species is found in Foya Mountain, Papua by Henk van Mastrigt in 2005 and described by him in 2006. The given name is derived from Indonesia's first lady, Mrs. Kristiani Herawati, to hounour and support President Susilo Bambanb Yudhoyono in his effort to preserve Indonesian forest and protecting it againts illegal logging. Wings span is 4.5 cm.

    The beauty of this birdwing butterfly had caused great exitement to Alfred Russel Wallace who found and described this species. This endemic species can be found only in North Maluku and shall be granted a protection status. Wings span is 14.5 cm.

    This birdwing butterfly is one out of 19 species protected in Indonesia. This species is found in Sulawesi and Maluku. Wings span is 12 cm.>
